IVEPE-SEV is a Certification Body of Persons accredited by ESYD (Certificate Number 153-8), according to International Standard ISO17024:2012, for the certification of proficiency, technical competence and skills to professionals performing welding operations.

To the successful participants IVEPE-SEV issues the following certificates:

  1. Welder’s Qualification Test Certificate – WQTC
    Issued based on the Standards:
    EN ISO9606-1:2017 for fusion welding of steels and
    ΕΝ ISO9606-2:2005 for fusion welding of aluminium and aluminium alloys
  2. Certificate of Proficiency for person carrying out Weldings with fusion also referred as Certificate of Proficiency,
    which falls within the formal scope of Accreditation of IVEPE-SEV by ESYD. The specific certification of upgraded ability of a person who performs welding has as a prerequisite the issuance of the Welder’s Qualification Test Certificate WQTC (point Α) which accompanied it and can only be granted to candidates who hold a valid Welder License (Α or Β category) or a certificate announcing the start of a professional activity as a welder, both issued by the Public Authorities

The validity of the certification is 3 years according to the standard EN ISO9606-01: 2013 and 2 years according to the standard EN ISO9606-02: 2005.

A necessary condition for the validity of the Certification is the written confirmation every six months by the employer / welding coordinator of welding works in the relevant Welder’s Qualification Test Certificate, that the certified professional continues to work in the method in which he was certified.

The certification is not a license for the legal practice of the certified profession and it does not secure professional rights to its holder.

The supporting documents required for the participation of the candidate in the examinations for the issuance of the Welder’s Qualification Test Certificate WQTC (point Α) are:

  1. Confirmation of work experience as a welder in the requested method (minimum period, 1 year) and / or Certificate of attendance of a training seminar in the requested method, minimum 24 hours (attendance of the seminar may replace the requirement for work experience)
  2. 2 color passport type photos of the candidate
  3. Photocopy of the identification card of the candidate
  4. Certification application (form Δ4.2/ΕΝ01)signed by the candidate

The procedures and the content of the Certification Exams consists of a Practical Examination (welding of a test piece) and covers a given welding technique and scope of approval.

The additional documents required for the participation of the candidate in the examinations for the issuance of the Certificate of Proficiency (point Β) are:

  1. a valid Welder License (Α or Β category) or a certificate announcing the start of a professional activity as a welder, both issued by the Public Authorities.

The procedures and the content of the Certification Exams consists of a written Theoretical Examination and of a Practical Examination (welding of a test piece) and covers a given welding technique and scope of approval.

The Exams material of the written Theoretical Examination includes the following sections:

  • Welding equipment

  • Welding processes

  • Parent metals

  • Filler metal types/Welding consumables

  • Safety precautions

  • Welding sequences/procedures

  • Joint preparation and weld representation

  • Weld imperfections

  • Welder qualification acc. to EN ISO9606-1/2
